On May 1, 2006, May Day, International Workers' Day, returned to the United States, the country of its origin, reclaimed by a wave of immigrant workers' defiance to continued and mounting efforts to maintain them in marginalized and oppressed status.

Millions of people took to the streets. Factories, shops, markets, businesses, the entire port of Los Angeles, shut down, as immigrants from all over the world, workers and supporters joined in mass mobilization, the Great American Boycott 2006: no school, no work, no selling, no buying!

Here are a few shots from the march in Los Angeles.
