I'm Jennaya Dunlap, the organizar of this rally, and I want to thank you all so much for coming here to this country. You truly enrich this state with your culture, your family values and your hard work. Latinos in this country and especially in the state of California have done so much work for America and brought so many rich values, but instead of the deep appreciation they deserve, they are paid abominably low wages and face great prejudice, hostility and sometimes open racism from even the people who receive the most benefit.

I'm 17 and I live in Romoland, not far from this area. Last year there was a rally for immigrant rights in Perris as part of the nationwide Day Without an Immigrant action, which my family and I went to after passing out flyers about it in this town in advance. This year, once again Latinos all over this country are standing up for their rights on May 1, but we discovered last week that there was no rally planned for this area this time around. So my family and I decided to organize our own, to make sure that the people here have a voice too.

You might wonder why this cause means so much to us, even though we are not Latino ourselves. First I want to say that I love your culture-- the cultures of Mexico and of Latin America, which I have been introduced to through my friends who immigrated to this state. The more I learn of this culture, and also of the beautiful Spanish language, the more I love it. It has become a part of me, and so this cause is also a part of me- the fight for your rights to live out the American dream and also your own beautiful culture without fear and without discrimination.

So we stand with you in this struggle, and we will continue to protest for the rights of Latino immigrants until this cause is won, however long it takes and whatever the backlash in the meantime.

What we and so many others protesting all over the U.S. today are asking for is simple, yet the legislators in this country have refused to do it and are instead going backwards rapidly. So now we are gathering to make our voices heard and demand fair and just laws that allow immigrants to come and stay here with their families without fear of being deported, separated or treated as criminals.

Here is what we are asking:

Stop the separation of families and the massive deportations! Stop the evil raids that are spreading terror in immigrant communities and unfairly targeting people who are working hard and holding up this country's economy while trying to build a good life for their families. Stop the Minutemen and vigilantes and their racist crimes! Put an end to the murders of innocent people at the borders. Instead, we want amnesty for all so-called illegal immigrants now in this country and laws that make it easier for immigrants to come here and bring their families.

Hoy en este 1 mayo los latinos están de nuevo manifestando para defender sus derechos, pero nos decepcionó descubrir que no iba a haber ningún rally cerca de aquí. Entonces yo y mi familia decidimos organizar este rally para ensegurar que la gente acá también tiene voz.

Tal vez ustedes se preguntan por que esta causa es importante a mi familia aunque no somos latinos. Por empezar quiero decir que me encanta mucho su cultura, la de Mexico y de toda latinoamérica a que me han introducido mis amigos que inmigraron a este estado. Cuánto más aprendo de la cultura y también de la bonita idioma español, más me encanta todo. Ya ha llegado a ser una parte de mi y pues también es una parte de mi esta causa...la lucha para sus derechos realizar sin temor y sin discriminación el sueño americano y vivir y fomentar su propia linda cultura. Estamos unidos con ustedes en esta lucha, y vamos a seguir luchando para los derechos de los inmigrantes latinos hasta que sea conseguidos eses derechos no importa cuánto tiempo dure la lucha y ni importa los obstáculos que mientras tanto pueden que haber.

Lo que hoy demandamos todos aquí además de tantos otros en todas partes de los Estados Unidos es sencillo, y no solo facíl pero también la única cosa justa que se puede hacer. Sin embargo los legisladores de este país han negado la justicia a los inmigrantes y en vez estan usando tácticos de temer y intimidación en contra de los inmigrantes y sus apoyantes. Pero no nos pueden intimidar a ninguna, y ahora estamos juntos para manifestar la voz y demandar los derechos completos, la justicia, y igualdad de trato. Demandamos que permitan a los inmigrantes venir y vivir aquí con sus familias sin temerse de estar deportado, separado, o tratado como criminal.

Es esto que pedimos:

¡Alto a la separación de las familias y las masivas deportaciones y detenciones! ¡Alto a las redadas que difunden el terror en las comunidades de inmigrantes y que persiguen injustamente a un pueblo que está trabajando duro y sostienendo la economía de este páís mientras tratando realizar una mejor vida para sus familias! Alto a los crimenes racistas que cometen los Minuteman y patrullas ciudadanas. Acaba con los asesinatos de personas inocentes a las fronteras de este país. En vez queremos ahora la amnistía para todos los así llamado inmigrantes ilegales en este país, y queremos leyes que lo harán más facíl para los trabajadores mexicanos venir aquí y traer sus familias.

Muchas gracias a todos ustedes por estar aquí esta tarde para manifestar sus voces para la justicia. Dios les bendiga y viva la raza!
