POMONA HABLA/POMONA SPEAKS a community coalition will hold a Press Conference to announce a vigil to urge the Pomona City Council and the Mayor Norma Torres to not accept the “DUI Enforcement and Awareness Program Grant” of the State of California Office of traffic safety for 2008-2009 fiscal year.

Press Conference: To announce a vigil on September 8, at 5:30PM to protest a special meeting called by Mayor Torres to vote on a resolution to accept the State of California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) DUI enforcement and awareness program grant. Despite the fact the Pomona Speaks/Pomona Habla Coalition has charged the Pomona Police Department with serious violations during the implementation of the checkpoints, the Pomona City Council is ready to accept funding to continue the checkpoints without regard to the adverse community impact.
