TO THE SECOND ENCUENTRO FOR DIGNITY AND AGAINST DISPLACEMENT:



TO MOVEMENT FOR JUSTICE IN EL BARRIO:



BROTHERS AND SISTERS,



One fight unites us, the fight against capitalism. It does not matter where we find ourselves, in Harlem, Bombay, Buenos Aires, Zaragoza, Sidney, Cochabamba, Paris, Manchester, the fight against all forms of domination are one and the same.



From Atenco, we fight just like all of you in El Barrio in New York, we salute your struggle and we appreciate the teaching that each organization or individual effort carry out in order to provide us with a lesson in struggle and hope. We believe that the role that all of you play from the bowels of empire is crucial in order to transform the relations of domination and launch a message for the possibility of victory.



We want to tell you, brothers and sisters, that when we initiated our struggle in 2001 against the construction of the mega-project for Mexico City’s International Airport, in defense of our land and against displacement, our people said to us: “you can not defeat the government,” “no one can say no to father government.” When we started our fight we began with defeating the idea that this situation is inevitable and that is what we did, which is to say, we had to combat the idea that we are weak and that we are destined to failure and martyrdom. Our fight demonstrated this, in spite of the death of our compañeros, of the imprisonment and repression, our struggle managed to triumph in 2002 and since then we can say something very important: “we defeated the Mexican government.”



Nonetheless, there are no complete victories or eternal defeats. As such, our struggle continued, shaping a counter-power capable of confronting the bad governments, until May of 2006 arrived. At this time the government released all of their contained rage, they wanted to give a lesson in revenge and what can happen to all of those who fight against capital domination. The dispute is the same: our land. We want to tell all of you that the struggle is not easy, as you already know. In 2001 they wanted to strip us of our land by buying half for one dollar per square meter; now they want to pay ten dollars. Also, as always, the struggle is contradictory; now some of our compañeros want to sell the land because they are hungry, when a square meter sells for between 8,000 and 13,000 dollars on the market. We tell them that the land is our mother, and we do not sell our mother, but this does not mean that our struggle is simple and that all of us assimilate, so even better to tell you is that even though we are coming from a place of adversity, in spite of this we are motivated by the possibility of victory.



From here we know that you find yourselves in the bowels of empire and that the effort that you put forth is great. To embark upon a struggle against displacement requires not only defeating the idea of the inevitable but also means contradicting the idea of hegemony of the omnipotent empire. It is very comfortable to believe that one lives in the center of the world and that the rest are in the periphery of development, but that is not the case; what is hidden are those few transnationalized that live enjoying the privileges of exploitation, they have no nationality only interests, they are those that control the reins of the world, they are the few families and businesses that define the destiny of our planet. Meanwhile, we are the majority, the greater part of humanity. Because of this we say that we’ve always had nothing, because of this we want everything. We want a new liberating rationality, we want a universal vision, we want a moral economy from humanity, we want a world that no longer views the human as the center of the universe and recognizes our plural and diverse character as a species more, we want a transformation of power, we want a new form of social relations, we want justice and liberty for our planet.



Brothers and sisters, thank you for everything that you have done for us, from Atenco we know everything that your effort has meant for our struggle for the liberty of our 12 political prisoners and for those 2 who are being persecuted, our rebel love goes out to all of you for your struggle, from here you should know that the Movement for Justice in “our” Barrio is our struggle and that we will be with you as we are with whatever struggle in the world, in the same way that all of you are with us. Brothers and sisters, know that your struggle resonates strongly in our hearts and that the Second Encuentro for Dignity and Against Displacement represents for us the necessary construction of the theme for global transformation that we all are constructing, for a better, just and dignified planet like we deserve.

AL SEGUNDO ENCUENTRO POR DIGNIDAD Y CONTRA EL DESPLAZAMIENTO:
A MOVIMIENTO POR JUSTICIA DEL BARRIO:

HERMANOS Y HERMANAS,

Una lucha nos une, la lucha contra el capitalismo. No importa desde donde nos encontremos, en Harlem, Bombay, Buenos Aires, Zaragoza, Sídney, Cochabamba, Paris, Manchester, la lucha contra las formas de dominación son las mismas.

Desde Atenco, nosotros luchamos como ustedes lo hacen en el barrio de Nueva York, saludamos su lucha y agradecemos la enseñanza que cada organización o esfuerzo individual emprende para darnos una lección de lucha y esperanza, creemos que el papel que juegan ustedes desde las entrañas del imperio es crucial para transformar las relaciones de dominación y lanzar un mensaje de la posibilidad de triunfo.

Queremos contarles hermanos y hermanas, que cuando nosotros iniciamos nuestra lucha en 2001 en contra de la construcción del megaproyecto del Aeropuerto Internacional de la Ciudad de México, por la defensa de nuestra tierra y contra el desplazamiento, nuestra gente nos decía: “al gobierno no se le puede ganar”, “al papá gobierno nadie le puede decir no”. Cuando nosotros empezamos nuestra lucha empezamos venciendo la idea de que la situación no es inevitable y así lo hicimos, es decir, tuvimos que combatir la idea de que somos los débiles y que nosotros estamos destinados al fracaso y al martirio. Nuestra lucha así lo demostró, a pesar de la muerte de nuestros compañeros, del encarcelamiento y de la represión, nuestra lucha logró triunfar en el 2002, desde entonces nosotros podemos decir algo muy importante: “al gobierno mexicano nosotros los vencimos”.

Sin embargo, no hay victorias totales ni derrotas eternas. Así continuó nuestra lucha, conformando un contrapoder capaz de confrontar a los malos gobiernos, hasta que llegó el mayo de 2006. Ahí sacaron toda su rabia contenida, quisieron dar una lección de venganza y qué es lo que le puede pasar a todos aquéllos que luchen en contra de la dominación del capital. La disputa es la misma: nuestra tierra. Queremos decirles que la lucha no es fácil como ustedes ya lo saben. En el 2001 quisieron despojarnos la tierra comprándola a la mitad de un dólar el metro cuadrado, ahora nos la quieren comprar a 10 dólares. La lucha también es contradictoria como siempre, ahora algunos de nuestros compañeros quieren venderla porque tiene hambre, cuando en el mercado el metro cuadrado se vende entre 8,000 y 13,000 dólares. Nosotros les decimos que la tierra es nuestra madre, y a nuestra madre no la vendemos, pero eso no quiere decir que nuestra lucha sea sencilla y que todos la asimilemos, más bien lo que les decimos es que nosotros partimos de un escenario de adversidad y a pesar de eso para nosotros lo que nos mueve es la posibilidad de triunfo.

Desde aquí sabemos que ustedes se encuentran en las entrañas del imperio y que el esfuerzo que desarrollan es mayor. Que emprender una lucha en contra del desplazamiento requiere no sólo vencer la idea de lo inevitable sino que implica contradecir la idea de la hegemonía del imperio omnipotente. Es muy cómodo creer que se vive en el centro del mundo y que todo lo demás es la periferia del desarrollo, pero no es así, lo que en verdad se esconde es que son unos cuantos transnacionalizados los que viven disfrutando de los privilegios de la explotación, ellos no tienen nacionalidad sino intereses, ellos son los que mueven las riendas del mundo, ellos son unas cuantas familias y empresas que definen el destino de nuestro planeta. Mientras que nosotros somos los más, la mayor parte de la humanidad. Por eso decimos que siempre hemos tenido nada, por eso queremos todo. Queremos una nueva racionalidad liberadora, queremos una visión universal, queremos una economía moral de la humanidad, queremos un mundo que deje de ver como centro del universo al humano y se reconozca nuestro carácter plural y diverso como una especie más, queremos una transformación del poder, queremos una nueva forma de relaciones sociales, queremos justicia y libertad para nuestro planeta.

Hermanos y hermanas, gracias por todo lo que ustedes han hecho por nosotros, desde Atenco conocemos todo lo que su esfuerzo ha significado para nuestra lucha por la libertad de nuestros 12 presos políticos y 2 perseguidos, a todos ustedes va nuestro amor rebelde por su lucha, desde aquí deben de saber que el Movimiento por Justicia de “nuestro” Barrio es nuestra lucha y que nosotros estaremos con ustedes como lo estamos con cualquier lucha en el mundo, de la misma forma como están ustedes con nosotros. Hermanos y hermanas, sepan que su lucha suena fuerte en nuestros corazones y que el Segundo Encuentro por la Dignidad y Contra el Desplazamiento representa para nosotros la necesaria construcción del sujeto de transformación mundial que todos estamos construyendo, por un planeta mejor, justo y digno como nos merecemos.
